Working on another Apron~

It's a Christmas green with a thick red rick rack as an accent!
Thought I'd post so no one thinks I've fallen off the planet. Just been adjusting to my parents living with us and no time to sew...boo hoo!

Vintage Pincushions!

I made these adorable pincushions of vintage fabric I had.
Only one has my tag on it, but that's because it was the first one I made. I don't think I'll put such a large one on the rest. Must make a smaller tag, but then will anyone be able to read it!
They measure approximately 4 1/2 inches seam to seam...one is a tad fatter than the other, definitely unique!
There 's a button on both sides so you decide which side you like best.
I think I'll make an entire basket full of 'em to sell at the craft fair!
They'll make great Christmas gifts, don't ya think?
Price: $12.50 each.

Buttons and Stories

I absolutely love buttons! I think it's cuz of all the cool designs, colors, and the stories they tell. A lot of the buttons I have were handed down to my from my mom and she had a sibling that owned a furrier, so I have some buttons with animal fur on them...and other buttons I've just collected over the years.
I use them a lot in making my tags as well as my aprons because I think embellishing with them adds depth to the piece.

There was rice in this cool jar, but now that it's empty I see that it serves better as a button jar!

Give me your thoughts.
I just finished my father-ion-law's 75th birthday gift, but I won't post the pix until after he opens it, just in case my mother-in-law reads this!~

Been A While...

Sewing has taken a back seat to the news that my parent's are moving in with us in a month and we have to move in order to accomodate them...plus I have to rehome our dog, Daizee, so she doesn't knock my mom over with her walker.
Ugh, but Yeah, God.
I've made several gifts, but for some reason, I didn't take any pictures. Oh well...
My friend called and thanked me profusely, saying I'd outdone myself...she will use these gifts and she liked them...makes gift giving the best, ya know?

Birthday Gifts~

My dear friend and her daughter had a birthday a week apart, so I made them each a gift that matched, but didn't...
One is a garden apron.

The other is a crayon apron...she loved it!

It was a fun project. I love the vintage fabric, too!

If you know someone that would love to have a crayon apron, made to order, let me know.

Sold!

So excited, the garden apron sold today!
As a result of hitting the pavement and prayer, I gave out a bunch of business cards, made contacts and got orders for more of my designs!
So grateful...more to come...

Vintage Garden Apron

This time, I designed a vintage apron with ties that extends 110 1/4"!
I found this gem of a print in one of the three boxes of fabric at the thrift store.

I really like this one. If it doesn't sell, I may keep it for myself!

My darling Caleb took the pix of me wearing it, even though I didn't make a bow with the ties!

...didn't he do a great job!

After three attempts at making gloves, I found these and thought I'd embellish them!

Garden Apron

I've been in a funk, I think.
But it's over now...all I had to do to get inspiration was hit the Etsy button and that did it!
Take your turn by clicking that word and see what I mean.

Well, anyways, my dear friend just celebrated her sixty-ninth birthday yesterday and I've made her a special gift...
Della, if you just happen to visit this site, I'm asking you to not read any further or to look a the pix I'm displaying of your gift...I don't want to ruin it for you, but I had to show off this great idea and have a memory of it once it's gone on to you!

My friend loves to garden and her efforts are not in vain...she somehow took the clay Georgia soil and transformed it into the most gorgeous yard. So, in her honor, I've made her an apron for her gardening leisure.
This is your last chance, Della, to wait until your gift arrives in the mail...close this page!

Four large pockets, and a little one in the middle-all made from scraps I had leftover from other projects.

...complete with my own tag!

It was a fun project and it didn't take forever-
I tried making her gardening gloves...
three attempts and I gave up, despite measuring and adding 1/8 " for seams...
so, I'll just get her a pair and embellish them!

What I'm up to...

I am indebted to the Internet and wonderful people that post things like how to make your own tags for your 'stuff'!
All it takes is some time, patience, a printer, a computer, freezer paper and cotton fabric...woo hoo!
Now you get to see my new logo that our wonderful son, Josh, worked on with me...I absolutely love it!

I have to say that doing things by myself is ok, yet I'd love for my sister to get here soon so she can help me and I can help her!~

So much to do, so little time to do it all! I shall be, not just do~

Wordful Wednesday

I realize that today is ordinarily a voiceless day, yet I cannot be silent...
Wild Olive Tees is launching a kid's line of teeshirts as well as a giveaway...hop on over and visit their site to see all the beautiful designs they have and enter your name in the giveaway. It's possible to enter several times by your input, so be sure you check it out.
Here's a clip from their post on the subject:

We are also thrilled to announce another Charity tee, CHOSEN. Through August 31st, 25% of our profits (instead of our standard 10%) from the sale of “CHOSEN” will go to benefit a charity near and dear to our hearts, Love without Boundaries. Love Without Boundaries began in 2003, after a group of adoptive parents realized that people united by a pure love for impoverished children truly can make a difference. Love without boundaries strives “To provide the most loving and compassionate help possible to orphaned and impoverished children in China, and to show the world that every child, regardless of their needs, deserves to experience love and be treated with dignity and care.” In just five short years, the foundation has grown from providing a handful of surgeries to touching the lives of thousands of children today through foster care, medical, education, and nutrition programs. To find out more about Love Without Boundaries, you can visit their website here.

Have a great day.

Oh, to have my Trinity Faith here to model this adorable 'Fiesta' skirt outfit for me!
You know how much I love color!
The skirt fabric and matching top pieces are vintage and came from a pillowcase that had been handmade~
The design for the threading reminds me of a little girl that's twirling and giggling.
How I miss my grandbabies!
I have yet to make the matching little purse and this outfit will be ready to go!

I am overwhelmed in a good way!

A week and a half ago I was at the thrift store on book sale day and spied these boxes of fabric with no price. The guy at the counter said they'd have it priced by Sat, but they might perhaps sell it per box.
When I called on Sat. morning. they had them priced--$6 a huge box! I made him promise not to sell them to anyone! Can you imagine-three huge boxes of vintage fabric for $6 a box! I brought them all home and when we got them in my shop, it was evident I had a lot of work ahead of me, but that was ok by me!
It's taken me until today to finish washing, hanging on the line, and folding it all. Tons of polyester, and there's washable wool, too! Cottons, knits, silkie stuff, and no room to store it all...
So I began searching for shelving on Craigslist -
...Nothing...

Well, my wonderful Love had made me four fence post dividers for my aprons and he made four more he was going to use to mount his birdhouses on, but he gave his to me and mounted them on the wall...Here is a picture of all this additional fabric I own...

I'm not finished yet, but I'm headed to my shop now to begin the day of creating...

Good stuff to come, I know!

Happy sewing-

May my deal inspire you to keep your eyes peeled for deals He has for you!

I'm all over the place today!

I've been working on almost all my blogs, my website and now to finish off the day, my joy of seeing my work being shown off!
I sent Rachael her birthday gifts...three matching dresses for her and the girls...here they are wearing them!
And Hailey wearing the one I made for Trinity...!
Oh, well, I didn't have them here for measurements!

She's such a beautiful model already...modeling for me, that is!

My Website

Greetings. I've been in 'labor' to work on a website that will actually work for me. I thought I could do that with this site, but since I am not html savvy and it was taking sooo long and not giving me what I wanted, I found Microsoft Office Live Small Business Web Design!
I believe I'll devote this site to tutorials, progress I make in my sewing adventures and another place to show off what I'm marketing!

I've been working diligently on this site to get it up and running, looking professional and thought I'd post another creation I'm offering.
It's a vintage recipe can. The can isn't vintage, but the recipes on the can are! Each recipe is clipped from the newspaper during the 60's - 70's! What a neat gift to give a friend that's nestolgic!

Each recipe was glued to the can using decoupage and will last a long time.
